ST. HILDA AS AN OUTSTATION
For twenty – six (26) years, Saint Hilda Catholic Church, Obadore had
evolved through transformatory stages under the pastoral leadership of
various Parish Priests among whom are Late Rev. Father Patrick Adegbite
of Holy Family Catholic Church, Festac the founder and pioneer Parish
Priest.
When Saint Augustine became a Parish, St. Hilda was placed under her
as an out-station, under the guardian of Rev. Fr. Nwanna who recently
passed on to glory. Rev. Fr. Pius Omofuma, under whom the church
bought eighty (80) plots of land across the street which had since been
named “Catholic Mission Street.” Also, the present place of worship two
(2) plots was bought under him. And finally, Rev. Fr. Michael Kendra
Etegene. The period of this Parish Priest, St. Hilda was able to buy the
piece of land, one and half (11) plots on which the father’s house and the
Paris Priest Office cum the church hall are located. To crown it all,
under him St. Hilda was elevated from the status of an outstation to a
QUASI-PARISH on the 16th of April, 2019.
