ST HILDA CATHOLIC CHURCH, OBADORE AS A PARISH

As earlier mentioned, the Obadore worshipping community was elevated
to her present status as a quasi parish on the 16th of April, 2019,
marking the official birth of the church. The first Parish Priest to be
posted to the church is the current Parish Priest Rev. Father Collins
Ugochukwu who was officially received in pomp and pageantries by the
entire Obadore community on Tuesday, the 29th day of October, 2019.
After a brief warm reception, Father Collins celebrated his first Mass in
the Community. Before his arrival, the community had only one Mass on
Sunday at 7.00am being an outstation. Now, there are two Masses
(6.15am Mass and 8.00am Mass with mass for the young newly
introduced and holding every third Sunday of the Month at 10.30am.
Similarly, during the week, Mass was held only on Friday evening, but
following his arrival, Mass now holds daily during the week at 6.30am
and additionally 6.30pm on Wednesdays and Fridays only with other
activities included as a Parish.
With the coming on board of the Parish Priest, St. Hilda Catholic Church,
Obadore had assumed an excellent state in terms of infrastructure and
human development capacity building. It is a living witness that St.
Hilda Catholic Church can compete favourably with some older Parishes
due to the efforts of the spirit filled, ever energetic, and visionary
motivation of the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Collins Ugochukwu.
Furthermore, with the assistance of our previous and present parish
priests, we are blessed with the following:

  1. Functional CMO, CWO, CYON, MCA and all other pious
    societies etc.

    1. Small Christian communities with 5 centres.
Regular catechism classes with good and dedicated catechists.
Good and dedicated parish pastoral council and council
committees. Vibrant laity council in charge of the laity.

        officiating priests.

        APPRECIATION
The present Catholic community in Obadore uses this medium to praise
God and the Parish Priest of Festac Town, Rev. Fr. Patrick Adegbite for
the foresight in citing a Catholic Church Station here, thereby extending
Christ kingdom to the village. Today the station had metamorphosed
into a full fledged parish to the glory of God. To all other Parish Priests,
visiting Priests, Rev. Sisters (Sister of Charity, Festac, and Eucharistic
Heart of Jesus E.H.J. Ikeja) and Seminarians who have at different times
assisted at Mass and communion service here respectively. We extend
our gratitude to all our service leaders past and present, within and
outside, our Parish Priest starting with Father Nwanua of blessed
memory, Fr. Pius Omofuma, Fr. Michael Etegene and their Associate
Priests. Our own indefatigable, the first Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Collins
Ugochukwu and our amiable dedicated, committed and wonderful
parishioners for your contributions so far. May God in His infinite mercy
        bless us all. Amen.
